Went in for a serpentine belt replacement. Was told the AC compressor has seized up which I kind of thought something else would be wrong since the belt looked in good condition. No problem there. Asked if the compressor could be bypassed since AC isn't absolutely vital. Told no it cannot be. Looked online on foreign car forums and yes it can. Also asked a mechanic and told yes it can be. Agreed to the repair before I knew that so just decided to have it done since the part would have already been ordered. Got the car back and was told the dipstick broke off when they checked the oil. Had just checked the oil 2 days earlier and the dipstick was fine. So then I leave the shop after paying a lot of money, get about 500 ft and the car dies. So I limp the car back to the shop and let them know it died. Guy says they ALWAYS test drive so he has no clue what could be wrong. They bring the car back in and somehow forgot to tighten a clamp which affected the air flow. They did tighten the clamp and car seemed fine but check engine light did come back on. So I got the dipstick out of the tube using a drill since they broke the handle. Looks like they just yanked on the dipstick because just below the handle the metal is bent. Also my check engine light is still on with no explanation. Needless to say I will not be returning to this place. There are many other shops in town that I think would be better. Only reason I went to this place is because it was close to where my serpentine belt broke.

First thing is we apologize. we do not know if we broke the stick or not. We will replace it. We also do not know every vehicles system bypasses on every car. So I looked into it and I guess this vehicle you can buy a short belt (not necessarily a in the book type repair) so I was the man you talked to and also the tech that worked on it. I did not know based on the info I looked at. Our goal here is to do our best and we thought we did that but it appears we missed the mark. I would like you to please get ahold of us and have us order you a dip stick and we should scan the check engine light to see if it came on because of the intake tube issue. Thank you and all we ask is that you please give us a chance to take care of the concerns.
